Induction's first vinyl record was 1994's Attempt 12" single. The story goes that in our Houston environs, Induction made a killing selling cassette tapes to our friends in high school. Over several albums, literally thousands of cassettes were sold, and after graduating high school we knew to get to the next level we would need vinyl that DJs could spin.

We also were in the grip of early 1990s rave culture, and our DJ heroes like Andrei Morant, Chris Anderson, and Houston's DVS1 were infusing the local Houston rave scene with hard breakbeats mixed with raw techno. That sound led to the heavily sample-based tracks in this single.

With the savings we had from our cassettes, we had enough money to press the record. Of course we had no idea what we were doing. But we sent Watts Music, the largest USA distributor at the time, a cassette of Attempt and Electrostatic. They supplied a terse reply in the form of a purchase order for 500 copies. So all of a sudden, we were in the record business. A few months later, we nearly sold through the run, and we heard it was most popular in Germany.

Now available digitally for the first time, here you have Induction's first record fresh from the Time Machine clocked in to 1994.
